It’s that time of month again, Dudes and Dudettes. Yes. I’m having my period. And, coincidentally, it’s Movie Mavens time. Tomorrow, Wed June 3, at 9pm on BCTV is a new episode of Movie Mavens. We’ll be discussing the new Star Trek and Pixar’s UP. I’ll laugh with my stupid hyena-like laugh, Carole will say intelligent stuff about movie making, and we’ll give away freebies.
For you out-of-towners, go to www.bctv.org and you can watch it live, or watch the archived episodes.
Not only are call-ins welcome, but when not enough people call in, Carole gets really pissed and keeps trying to ram the car into buildings on the way home. Save a life. Call 610-378-0426 and tell us your thoughts on anything. We even want to hear about your bowel movements. Really. We do.
A special shout out to Kel, who is a loyal Movie Mavens fan, all the way from Maine. As a reward, you all must immediately read her blog here, or go to Publishing Renaissance, where she is the queen.

I wish to hell I was on your cable system and could watch it live. For some reason I always have problems trying to stream it on the Internet. The one I was able to see – the April Fool’s Day episode – was the bomb.
Your laugh makes me giggle. I can just see your beaming face.

See Robin? I’m not the only one who likes your laugh.
(And thanks for the shout out! I feel wicked special.)

Polly: I’m so bummed you can’t get it. You’d be the best call in person, ever. Thanks for liking my laugh. Now go clean out the wax in your ears. Kay?

Kel: Another one with waxy ears! You are wicked special. Or wicked waxy.

Ha! I caught part of it. Nice job with the Trekker/Home Viewers. hehehehe

Excellent again!
1.) I REALLY dug Star Trek. Yes, it was an action film (unlike the others), but it was cleverly written, too. Just my opinion.
2.) I knew the answers to BOTH trivia questions. Next month I’m watchin’ live so I can get some loot.
3.) It sounds like about 50% of your home viewers need to put thier bongs down before calling the show. (Not “Carol,” naturally.)
4.) Can’t wait to see Up!

Amy: I’m pretty sure most of them were my son’s friends prank calling. What a bunch of goobers.

Kel: You could win some loot, Dude! I’ll try to pick prizes that aren’t local. You probably don’t want to drive from Maine to Reading for a haircut, huh?
I can’t wait to see what you and your kids think of UP. My boys are too jaded to see an animated film. It’s so depressing. Carole’s daughter came with us. I need a daughter.

Oh, crap. I missed out on the hyena-like laugh. I’m gonna have to check out the archives.

Poor Carole…I have a feeling there’s a joke in there.
Robin, you are going to kill me, but could you give me your email (for a THIRD time!) I don’t know how I saved your email. It must be under a funky name because I get nothing when I search under Robin or Altman or Crazy Lady with The Look.

Thanks!

mamaneeds2rant: Remember the quick insert earplugs. Very important.

Chris: Ha! No. It’s just that Carole gets really pissed if there are no call-ins. Plus, she drives me to the show each time because my car is so repulsive.
Don’t worry about the e mail address! It’s drshoechick@aol.com.

I LOVED Star Trek!! The new Dr. Spock looks so much like the old one that it’s just uncanny. I was a big admirer of Leonard Nimoy and the new guy is great as Spock too. It’s only right that he should have a love interest, but it’s also right that I get to be jealous of her.

Mary: I completely agree! I loved every stinking minute of it. Adam and I kept looking at each other and grinning and giving a thumbs up. We were like goofy kids. (That’s new for us.)
